Antivirus Software
I don't like paying for things that I don't want to pay for, but somehow I do pay for it in the end. Like antivirus software. Right now, I am riding it free with AVG free edition. What antivirus software do you guys use?
Re: Antivirus Software
I've got Avast, it's a free antivirus, and pretty good.

Re: Antivirus Software
we use BitDefender and Avast at work, both have been pretty reliable.
Personally, i use Avast, AVG,Avira (funny how they all start with AV, eh?), and ZoneAlarm Security Suite (bummed off a friend).
When using multiple antivirus programs, only run ONE at a time or you will get massive conflicts as antivirus programs work almost exactly like viruses and thus are detected by other antivirus programs as such when two or more are running at the same time. I do 4 separate scans, one with each program in a row. often times i'll find malware and other little goodies the others couldn't find.

Re: Antivirus Software
I Just confirmed that Avira, although it does somewhat catch viruses, is a scam. The free version creates a fake "virus" that is detected, but is constantly re-created. I have also gotten notices from avira to buy the FULL VERSION for more options and better "protection".
personally any software that fakes a result on my computer in an advertising attempt to get me to buy their "full version" is definitely full of -something-... *cough* shit *cough*
Avoid Avira wherever possible.

In my opinion, both Norton -AND- Comodo are not very good. One is slow, sluggish and bulky (norton), and the other is almost NEVER up to date on virus definitions (comodo), and both leave too many viruses intact and you're left to clean up with ANOTHER program.

Re: Antivirus Software
At the current moment, Avast isn't legitimate. I recommend getting a copy of norton 2010 or 2011. Don't buy the Internet Security or Norton 360 crap, just stick with the regular antivirus/antispyware package.
if you are looking for free software, I recommend you download Malwarebytes

Re: Antivirus Software
I use malware's anti-malware scans to get rid of my internet viruses. Very useful!
Re: Antivirus Software
I use BitDefender... quite useful in many cases.
