TF2 Server

Just a little bit of a Holiday gift to the clan. Planning on making a TF2 server, with some "Special" features. Those features are still a surprise, and when its done, Ill have a full unveiling.

Will admins be needed?

As of right now, I don't see the need for a full Admin Task Force. It's harder to be a total douche in TF2 than it is in Gmod

Theres alot you can do with a tf2 server which is really cool. You can make it with roll-the-dice (rtd) mod which changes the gameplay a little and is very fun. Theres alot of different mods out there and I dont want the server to just be a normal server with normal maps. lets change it up

If we're using ANY type of admin system for a TF2 server it needs to be Sourcemod, lol. I used to have a server of my own using Sourcemod (Left 4 Dead) and I'm pretty familiar with a lot of things.

defiantly instant respawn on the server.

What maps will be on the cycle? I like to play all arena maps, some CP, and ctf_2fort. Ctf and CP gamemodes can get boring after awhile, especially if its just the tf2 original maps.

Well, after roughly 650 hours of gameplay, you begin to look for different maps/game modes.

Ok, so I've ordered the server and it should be up soon. I plan on making it a prop hunt server or suicide survival server. Are there any mods you guys can think of that would compliment those game types? I also need some good maps, so recommend some of those and I'll add them to the server's map cycle.

I was hoping for some arena but guess not. I've only done prop hunt once and I got bored of it very quickly and I dont know any mods for those. Its your call on what you want to do doug, im just saying what I enjoy. Cant wait for the server to become open. Btw, post the ip once its ready and all that. Ill be sure to play it.

I'm really leaning towards putting Suicide Survival onto the server, but the mod was developed for HL2DM. Its going to take some work to move it to Tf2. I will open the server for now, and as I develop the mod, I will add it to the server.

Just make it a normal ctf, arena, cp server then we can always switch it to other mods, right?

I dislike prop hunt so much. D: And that survival thing sounds weird/lame as well... I'll have to try that.. And btw, Rplix, I still don't like custom maps/skins/gamemodes much at all. I have 732 hours and only played custom gamemodes/maps at least 5 hours at the most, and it was only zombie fortress.

Well crud...I was counting on those game modes being awesome : / I want it to stand out from the other servers. I guess Ill keep working on it.

No, I think Super chicken powers wont be lame at all. That's what I plan on doing.

Btw, how much do tf2 servers cost to run for...lets say a year and 24/7 with 18 slots?

A lot. I'm paying a little over $250 a year to keep the servers going. Nobody ever donates, so it all comes out of my pocket.

Omg! I never knew it cost so much. I feel bad that I dont play on the server anymore. Maybe we should stop the gmod server and switch to tf2
